Semen Gresik’s Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ) Distributes 900 Packages of Basic Needs Assistance Totalling IDR109 Million to Low-Income Residents in Rembang
Rembang, December 15, 2022 - PT Semen Gresik (PTSG), through its Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ), distributed 900 packages of basic needs assistance with IDR109 million in total to the beneficiaries (mustahiq) in Rembang.
The Head of Semen Gresik’s UPZ, Nurhadi, stated that this zakat distribution was an annual agenda targeting the people in need around the Company.
“Alhamdulillah. We could distribute zakat collected from the management and employees of PTSG to the beneficiaries based on the sharia law of Islam,” Nurhadi said in his press release (15/12).
He added that the packages of basic needs assistance distributed in 2022 consisted of 3 kilograms of rice, 1 kilogram of white sugar, 5 packs of instant noodles, 1 liter of cooking oil, and 1 pack of teabags.
“They were very happy to receive that assistance. They even arrived at the distribution site before the defined time. The UPZ team also distributed it door-to-door so that the assistance was given right on target,” he explained.
With the existence of this UPZ, Nurhadi hoped that PTSG would be able to continuously help and distribute the sustenance of its personnel to people in need.
“Hopefully, in the future, there will be more and more PTSG personnel that voluntarily set aside some of their sustenance to pay zakat through UPZ. This can be their chance to do abundant good deeds and help many,” he concluded.
One of the beneficiaries from Timbrangan, Ahmad Fatoni Yahya, expressed his gratitude for the assistance. “Alhamdulillah. We are very grateful to PTSG for helping the lives of people in need around the Company,” he claimed.
